Why is there a need for a book launch team?
The publishing industry can be challenging, and the marketing of books has become more difficult, especially in niches such as beer. We'd like to create a small team to help us promote the book, and in return, we'll share our experiences of creating the book with them.
Why do I have to apply for the book launch team?
We’d like to keep our book launch team a reasonable size so that we can engage in meaningful discussion and offer something of value in terms of our time and attention. We'd also like to know a little bit about those people who would be kind enough to help us promote the book.
What’s expected of me on the book launch team?
We ask for as much or as little as you’re comfortable doing. There’s no set expectations at all, but we’d really appreciate it if our book launch team would consider some of the following: buying the book; leaving a review; helping promote the book to their networks when the time comes; connecting us with any media or contacts who might help with promotion; and giving us feedback on ideas for special offers or launch events.
What’s in it for me?
The process of writing and photographing a book can be both exciting and daunting and we think you’ll enjoy sharing that experience with us. Through a separate making of newsletter, you’ll get behind-the-scenes updates straight to your inbox. We’ll let you know the ups and downs of the process, and show you some images from our journey. You’ll find out about our pre-order offers, before anyone else. And you’ll have the chance to take part in (and help shape) launch activities.
How will the book look?
Our vision for this book is that it will be a beautifully designed book with compelling photography. We're grateful that Luster are working with Sarah Schrauwen of Doublebill Design in Antwerp for the design and layout. Each entry in the book will give you all the information you’ll need to understand how each beer was made and appreciate why it tastes the way it does. We’ll include advice on easily navigating this landscape of Hidden Beers and we’ll offer tips on where you’re most likely to find them in Belgium. We’ll also tell the inspiring stories behind each of these beers, and through our photography, we’ll show you what these beers look like, the diverse places that have spawned them, and the fascinating people who make them.
Who are Luster?
Luster Publishing is an independent book publisher based in Antwerp, Belgium. Luster publishes beautiful and inspiring books for cultural explorers on travel, food and drink, and art and design. Their books are distributed all around the world. Their portfolio includes titles such as Belgian Café Culture (by Regula Ysewijn), Belgium for Foodies (by Femke Vandevelde), and Hidden Belgium (by Derek Blyth). We are delighted and proud to work with Luster.
When will the book be released?
The planned release date for Hidden Beers of Belgium is September 2024. We hope to run a pre-launch special offer campaign one month before release with our book launch team, and then organise some launch activities in the month after the release date.
